2015 IRS MILEAGE RATES AND STATE MINIMUM WAGE INCREASES

Type:  General 

On December 10, 2014, the IRS released the standard mileage rates, effective as of January 1, 2015, as follows:
 
Business use: 57.5 cents a mile (from 56 cents a mile in 2014)
Charitable use: 14 cents a mile (same as 2014)
Medical use: 23 cents a mile (from 23.5 cents a mile in 2014)
Moving use: 23 cents a mile (from 23.5 cents a mile in 2014)

Massachusetts along with several other states will be increasing minimum wage effective January 1, 2015.  The minimum wage for non-exempt employees in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New York will increase to $9.00 per hour. The minimum wage for tipped employees increases to $3.00 per hour. The new minimum wage in Connecticut and Vermont will increase to $9.15 per hour.
